Please would someone help me here...
In the plugin manager in LR, I noticed that there was a newer version (1.0.6.1) of the plugin, so I downloaded it, via the manager, and installed in.
I keep getting the error "Unable to perform plugin update - Failed to move old plugin out of the way".
Do I need to manually delete the old plugin to do this?
If I manually install the plugin, will I still retain the plugin settings?
Thanks

I personally have not seen this error before. Did you rename your previous plug in by chance? If you do delete and re-install, I do not believe your settings will remain. My plugin was out of date as well, and I just downloaded and installed the update without a hitch.
I will do some research on my end and see if I can dig up some information.

The plugin was installed as it wanted to install itself - I didn't rename it at all.
Thanks for the help - if you do find anything, I would appreciate it.

Sebastian has provided me with some additional information.
We believe the settings in Lightroom WILL be kept, providing you don't delete anything within LR. You will need to close LR, and then move the old plugin out of the folder, or delete it. Download the latest plugin per these instructions.

If you have trouble locating the plugin folder, it should be noted in the plug-in manager within LR.
Please let us know if this works for you.

I deleted the previous version and replaced it with the manually downloaded new version and all is good. The settings were also remembered as well fyi.
Kind regards

I hope this helps.
Great information! Yes, we do recommend installing the plugin while no other processes in Lightroom are running.

The strange things is, that in the past, when checking for an update it would always fail, but now it checks fine.
Barrie - should I move it to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Modules? There is no Modules folder at present.
Please try the following ("~" is an abbreviation for your user directory):
1. Delete any old copies of the SmugMug.lrplugin from your Downloads directory.
2. Unhide your ~/Library directory - see http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
3. Download a fresh copy of the plugin from http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/121321-lightroom-plugin-update
4. Copy the SmugMug.lrplugin file to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules (you might need to create the Modules directory)
5. Enable the plugin in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules in Lightroom.

I have created the folder and moved it there. It seems to be running perfectly, although I haven't tried uploading yet.
