Any tips for a trip to the zoo?

I'm taking my daughter to the zoo this weekend. I've been before but usually just with a point and shoot. This is the first time I'll have brought a decent camera. (Nikon D5100 and probably the Ki lens AND/OR the 55-200 F4-5.6 tele). The conditions should be sunny in mid 60's on Sat (fingers crossed).

I'd hate to forget something obvious. Does anyone have any less than obvious tips I should be thinking about for the trip? For example, one thought I had was to use the CPL filter in case there is glare from any glass enclosures.

Thanks as always..

Are you going to be shooting indoors, or out of doors mostly?

If there are glass enclosures, like aquariums or terrariums, a micro fibre cloth is useful to clean the greasy fingerprints of the glass before shooting sometimes. A flash can be helpful at times, also, for fill flash out of doors.

I do not use a monopod, but some folks love them, and some zoos permit them; usually zoos forbid tripods. GO figure.

A fast prime lens can be helpful in dim indoor lighting.

As you mentioned, a CPL might be helpful at times.
