Welcome to Round #121 of the Dgrin Sharp Shooters Challenges.

This challenge is for all dgrin members.

It will run from Monday, January 21th, 2013 8:00pm PST time (GMT -8) on through Monday, Februarary 4, 2013 8:00pm PST time (GMT -8).

The theme this round for your interpretation will be: Centered

Centering your subject means that your subject is in the general center of your frame. Sometimes avoiding the rule that things should not be centered makes a better photograph. This is especially true when you are dealing with symmetry. Centering is also a very effective tool for creating a sense of space and size.

Oh and by the way the subject needs to be a red shoe ( just kidding )
BE CREATIVE: no rule of thirds in this round!

Here are some examples:

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

There are no editing restrictions this round!

Your Judge:
1 round 72 Hour Public Vote.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your entry is to be submitted directly into a SmugMug gallery. It's pretty simple, just go to the gallery link below, and follow the upload instructions at the top of the page:

DSS Gallery #121

Remember, the basics stay the same: 1 entry per person, and the photo must be fresh, taken during this contest period. Do not use a minimal save method (such as "save for web"), and your EXIF will be embedded in your image, no worries!

To avoid disqualification, read, in full, the Dgrin Sharp Shooters Challenge
RULES.
Please note that there has been a rules wording change, so be sure you have re- read the rules!

I thought my picture didn't load so I clicked on it again, and now there are two. I couldn't figure out how to delete the second one, so I hope you can do it for me. TIA

    Welcome both LexLanePhotography and aekonet

I see that you are both new. Posting photos in this thread is fine but unless you follow the instructions above you will not be entered into the current challenge.

If you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask.

I read the instructions but could not find the point, where I made the mistake (maybe based on some problems with my english ;))

    Thank you, grandmaR!

So.... It seems to be necessary to create an account at smugmug, am I right? Seems to be not free of charge, right?

No you do not need a smugmug account. Just follow the instructions that are listed at the top of the gallery. You should also find the link to the official rules and read those too.

I did not realize that the time was 8 pm pacific time and mine was taken in the afternoon on the east coast. So I guess I will have to withdraw my photo.

When I started I opened a free account at smugmug, but I closed it because it wasn't something I wanted.

For the DSS contests, you can upload directly from your computer, and really that is the best way as you don't have to worry as much about keeping the exif data with the photo (my opinion)

For the Mini-Challenges, the photos have to be hosted someplace on the internet but it doesn't matter where.

Yes I was sorry that I couldn't use that photo. You can't get clouds to order and the weather after that was nothing but sullen stratus clouds until we were almost home and I didn't think I should change it again
