Bushwhacked
I only have a 200mm so I had to blow this up, but the moment was extraordinary. I captured the Osprey ready to dive, but the Hawk was faster. Just as I opened the shutter, the Hawk slammed down on top of Osprey in a shower of feathers, and down he went. It happened so fast we were both supprised. The next post will show the aftermath and, I realize it is hard to see, but look close and you can see the Hawk on top in victory.

Oh, for a longer lens. You should be able to see some feathers falling, and the Osprey looks doomed, but as you can see from my post earlier, he came out missing only a few feathers. I know, you would have to be there, but it was amazing to see.

Is it normal behavior for a red tail (looks like one) to whoop on an Osprey?
Even though they are cropped the second one is an excellent capture. With a longer lens you may have actually been too close and not got both birds in the one shot. Well done and be very happy with your results, as they're great captured moments.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
