Cyndi Goes Native

Last week I posted some headshots from the start of BilCyns' World Tour project, Western US Native American. My thanks to my Cherokee friend, Dusty Dawn, for her consultation on authenticity. Today we move the the more complete images. Keep in mind that 2-3 of the frames in the gallery will be composited into appropriate backgrounds.

For the most part, the lighting scheme is a 60" Softlighter 45° camera right and 45° above, 48" Softlighter for fill just off camera left axis with a ratio of 3:1 and an AB800 with a 10° grid for hairlight (thanks DaveB for that one) or on the background for separation.

Of course, click the first image for the entire gallery of options.

Well done Bilsen!! I like them all. #8 is a great headshot. I wish the eyes were a little sharper, but the colors are superb! A set you and Cyndi can be proud of.

WOW that was quick. I always seem to get more response to a Cyndi set.

    Thank you both.

BTW, what ethnicity/Nationality is Cyndi? Just curious.

And can you lend me that costume when you're done with it?

Hard to argue with anybodys' pick in this set Cuban. My Cyndi galleries tend to be large after each shoot because (a) I love anything she's in and (b) she's a full partner in BilCyn images so she's the only model who gets to review the entire shoot and pick her favorites to process as well as mine. Actually, we tend to have a lot of mutual picks.

Cyndi is from the extremely gorgeous side of the Dominican Republic. That said, she has pulled off a lot of different looks because she researches each shoot as much as I do. She had a bunch of images of Native Americans for expressions. That's why there are virtually no smiles in the gallery. Can't wait to see what she does with India next month.

As for the costume, hop a plane and I'll hand it to ya at Westchester airport (HPN). Jet Blue runs flight 584 out of Ft. Lauderdale every day. I'll even buy dinner. Laughing.gif

    Thanks for chiming in.

Dominican... one of my favorite countries. So beautiful and the people are wonderful. Culturally and historically, Dominicans share much in common with Cubans. Our Spanish even sounds a lot alike.

My wife and I really want to plan a trip to NY. Actually, we became friends with a couple from NY we met during our last trip to the Dominican. They came to visit us here in Los Angeles so now it's our turn to visit them in NY. When we do go, I will be sure to let you know so we can have a couple beers.

Because all Cubans live in Miami. My parents got caught in a current and washed up in California. rolleyes1.gif

I like these. The only thing you might adjust is the background seems too sharp. You can see the crease on the left and the bumps in the paper.

Yeah, I like the idea, the outfit, the model, but the backdrop is distracting. I like more contrast, or lower lit backdrops, so the subject pops. Killer head shot!

    Thanks all.

Tin and Eph, I don't disagree about the backgound and I probably should have done a more close inspection of it, but the ultimate objective is to composite a couple of these. As a result, the most important thing was separating Cyndi from the gray seamless so she can be cut out more easily. I'll do a better job next set (India on Feb 9).
