Overlooked the emails from GoDaddy to renew my domain name...just rec'd notice they cancelled it....and now I cannot access my SmugMug account....YIKES!!!
I called GoDaddy but now to renew they want a ridiculous price. And I am not going to pay the price they want for a name I think no one else would even consider!
What gets me is that my domain name is my first and last name....and I can guarantee you no one else has my name nor would probably even want it...lol!!!
Any suggestions on what I should do? Perhaps wait a few weeks and see if the name becomes available again.......at the $10 bucks a year I was paying for it...ha!
This domain thing is pretty foreign to me......

Contact the Help Desk [ http://smu.gs/onHGXx ] and they can remove your domain name from your Account Settings. After it's removed, you can then access your site using your SmugMug url.
But, if the domain name really matters, I would consider paying it, chalking this up as an important business lesson and seeing if GoDaddy could cut you a break on any part of the order. Although, any breaks might be for extras like email addresses, etc.
How much did GoDaddy want to get the name back in order to sell it to you again?
Maybe you can think of a better variation for a new domain name if you miss the chance and someone else buys it while you're in the penalty box unable to re-register it.
Did you know you could set up your domain renewals through GoDaddy or SM GoDaddy to automatically renew so that it won't easily happen again?
I'm not so sure that's the case with Network Solutions... but then again they start sending me weekly notices six months out and then conveniently don't notify me the week of or on the due date (hoping for extra charges for being in a similar predicament like you are in now).
Good luck and too bad your domain name in limbo isn't the one I'm looking for.
