I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Always a treat to see those unusual formations and beautiful colors Tom.
    Thanks for sharing.
However, you keep reminding me that the caldera is gonna' blow sky-high any day now - I think I'm far enough away.... hopefully... maybe. :D

I seriously doubt, Eric, that anybody on the planet will completely escape the effects of the caldera blowing. And if it were to really have such catastrophic world-wide consequences, I'd just as soon be sitting at ground-zero and enjoy the ride.:D

    Thanks for the visit,

    Tom

I love Yellowstone. It's definitely my favorite National park so far, and we have been to quite a few.

That said, if and when it blows, nobody is going to escape the effects. In the U.S. pretty much everything west of the Mississippi will be vaporized and it will be pretty bad the rest of the way to the east coast. Anyone left will almost be living in the stone age. Then the ash will put the earth into a long winter that will probably kill most plant life.

I tell you, Will, the color shows these geyser basin areas in Yellowstone put on are just fantastic....like nothing I'd seen before.

    Hi Steve,

It's like I told Eric, when the caldera goes I want to be sitting on top of Mt. Washburn at the ranger station....might as well have a seat at the main arena.

Yep, I agree.... plus, rather go quick than suffer with the after effects.

If you are interested in some of the shots I got there a few years ago, the gallery can be found here:

There's more than just Yellowstone in there (it was a 2 week trip), so you'll have to skip through a bit.
