Some pics from recent trip to Peru, pilgrimage to Machu Picchu. Some view points that don't show up in regular Google image search easily, at least for me. Also I like richness of colors but others might prefer lower contrast.....Any feedback or helpful pointers are welcome!
1) View coming half way down from Machu Pichu Mountain
2) View of the surrounding hot waters along with Machu Picchu
3) The road that goes from Agua Calientes to Entrance
4) I wanted to add some diffferent color....not that it needed it but.....more the merrier....
5) More traditional view - Wayan Picchu mountain in the background
6) Gateway to another world
7) Inca terraces!

Great first post -- these are awesome! Some of the best shots from Machu Picchu that I can recall seeing.
I see we're developing quite a little contingent of Landscape photographers from San Jose with three of us in this thread already.

Thanks Joel and others for nice comments! I am always up for something in Bay Area...so many places to choose....Big Sur, Mt. Tam, Pinnacles, Montebello, Hidden villa, Santa Cruz mountains........etc etc....so it would be fun to go with others and take some pictures, learn, and drink beers afterwards!
The clinging clouds and diffused lighting could hardly be better.
Processing looks very good - like you said though, if mine, I might try to lift the shadows in 1, 5, & 6 to bring out some of the details - regardless, super nice work!
Count me among those inevitably envious of your visit to MP!
I was wondering if they gave you any problems bringing in a full size DSLR. Ive read everything from, you need a permit, no problem to a "Mordida". MP is on the schedule of 2014.

Thanks.
No issues with the camera. They frown upon tripods because they make the assumption you are a professional and hence are going to make money off of it so there is a ridiculous fee that nobody would pay. Everyone had big-mama cameras so no worries.
The two mountains, Machu-Pichu and Wayan-Pichu have 200 people quota per day, so if you want the high POV so first of all you have to be in shape to do the hikes, and second, you have to make reservations in advance for a separate fee.
Have fun!
Thanks for comments + tip! Here is some TMI that is surely going to dent my photographic credentials....I take multiple exposures and ones that were slightly underexposed were sharper and clearly had more details, but the ones I chose to stick with here were clearly bit blown-out and with less details.....why...because the lower exposures felt bit more glum/dark....while the bit over exposed ones emanated with something positive for me.......so it is dumb to sacrifice photo-quality for mood....and I am determined to resist that next time....your observation confirmed what I had been struggling with a lot.
Thanks.

So how did it feel standing there over looking MP? Which photo is your favorite and why? Sorry one more question, what did it sound like? Was it quiet, birds, wind etc.
I know a photo is great when it makes me ask more questions, then it answers.
