So I go to the Nature Center were they have the bird feeders up.
Junco's, Cardinals, Gold Finches, Woodpeckers, they're all there.
I think, "this is great, I should be able to get one good pic from all these birds."

Well, I got to many that turned out. (Don't you just hate that):D

All photo's taken with a Canon XT with a Canon 70-300is lens.

So I start taking pics.

I think I got some of the window sill near the bottom.

Then something happened that I didn't expect.
A young Red Tailed Hawk showed up.

The smaller birds stayed away at this point.

and I don't think it liked having me around either.

At first I thought it was after the smaller birds. Then I figured out what
it was really after. If you look at the bottom of the "pipe", you'll see a
red squirrels head peaking out.

As far as know, it went home hungry, no kill shots today.

So, which one would you enter?

Thanks for looking through all of these.
For you folks on dial-up, sorry.

The last hawk shot would surely give your geese entry a run for it's money. thumb.gif

    Thanks Mike.

I do like the geese photo. It turned out better than I thought it would.
But I think the hawk portrait (last) or the one where it's mouth is open would be better for the challenge.

I love the color contrast of this one...the red of the cardinal with the red of the barbwire

really liked all of the shots but thought the red cardinal one stood out the most (for me) the colors were really vibrant.

so how is the XT performing?? I just ordered one with a 18-55 and 55-200 lense.

    Thanks George.

You're going to like the XT.
I used a D Reb 300 for a year, and bought the xt a few weeks ago.
It's working out well for me.:D
I like the metering modes, and the larger 8 meg sensor gives me a bit more cropping room.
