Sub-Categories

A question and comment on Sub-Galleries. In my Smugmug Sports Category I'm able to create one sub-category (in this case Nordic Skiing). From there it is photo albums only. This works fine on the website because I can control the display order so my visitors see the latest albums first.

I would love to have one more level here. Adding a "year" category under Nordic Skiing would seem very logical.

Many of my users are accessing the files using smartphones. I cannot control the sort order on the mobile interface so they see the albums sorted alphabetically. Is there a way to control the order.

Instead of using a Sports category

You can gain the extra level or more by creating an html gallery. See this example. On this html/text
page in the gallery description each of the thumbnail/images would be a link to a sport category,
Nordic Sking, Karate, Gymnastics, etc.. It's actually just a list of all your sports, with each being a
link to the category. Then clicking a sport it would take you to that sport's category page. From
here on you would have the three levels, category, sub-cats and galleries.

To create more then one additional level see this example http://allen-steve.smugmug.com/Other/Examples-of-more-levels/4776685_2kHs3q
You'll notice that the page is PW'ed, see hint, for use with protected galleries like families.

Is it just me or does it seem that adding more levels to my site this way will just be more tediou busy work and create more instances of mistakes that f up my site? Help dgrinners... my site doesn't look right. I've added 1000 galleries manually to the html/css code over a few months and I'm just now noticing my site is broken in several spots. Where did I go wrong? ---- Ya, I think this is a short-term fix not even worth doing especially since I'd rather be shooting then dotting my eyes, crossing my tees and slashing my sentences.

I think it would be much simpler if you vote here:

    http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/332102-more-gallery-levels-

and hopefully SmugMug tells us their definition of "soon" since they say they have started working on this and all we've been updated with is... "soon."

Also, I'd hate to see site organizations in general get way too loose and sloppy (and give SmugMuggers a bad rap) so how about letting other people do the fancy html/css code work for more levels if they want and just give the PRO (business) users more levels as soon as possible.

We don't like sloppy either, which is why we believe in making this functionality up to our standards before we release it.
