Flicker and Mergenser (The bird time forgot :)

Took a few more shots today with my new 500 :):. Man I love this thing!

Northern Flicker- This Woodpecker spends much of its time on the ground eating insects. Made it hard to get a shot without weeds in the way.

Common Merganser- that white stuff in the backround and on her bill is Snow for those Southerners out there :wink that may have never seen it.

If you look closely at her bill you can see why I say "the bird that time forgot". Reminds me of an old Sci Fi movie.
