Actor Character Shots
In my [thread=230957]last post[/thread] of this gentleman's actor headshots, we got beat up for lack of character typing, too much makeup, and a feminine look to some of the shots. Despite all that, those headshots got him representation with a major LA agency and opened a few other doors for him. He was pretty stoked and returned the other day to do a character shoot. Hopefully the "typing" isn't too subtle in these. :wink

I think these are great. Especially like the fighter shots and 1,5 and 9.
BTW, just goes to show you that sometimes, other photographers are not the best critics of photos.

Thanks, Alex. Photographer critiques are always good when considered in context.

8/9 for me, although I'd back off the HDR-ish processing in 8 a tad. It works, but (for me) looks a touch too much about the *photo* rather than the subject.
The first few are really good shots, I just personally am not into props for a headshot - ymmv. For me, I prefer to see type indicated by expression rather than externals - ie implying what the actor can deliver through expression rather than openly showing it through semi-costuming - but, again, ymmv. Clearly what you did last time worked well for him, so go for it!
PS OMG he looks SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO much better without the makeup. What on earth made him think he needed it for photos?!
