:wow
OMG - I cant believe they ended it in the manner! Cringe! Good stuff though.
I just bought the Canon 24-70 II...but it wasn't an easy choice. Pricing aside, as a low light concert photographer, I really struggled between the impressive advantage of Vibration Control on the Tamron vs the speed of auto-focus on the Canon. In the end, the AF performance and clarity advantage on the Canon won out for me.
Excellent - thanks for the link! (But I have to ask: if it was that cold, why the &)!@*# didn't they have warm coats on?!??!?!!?! )
ETA: I've been stalking both of these lenses since they were announced. I The 24-70 II would be a nice upgrade if I had that kind of $ (or paid my mortgage with eg weddings), but given that I have the 24-70 I, I can't really justify it. I am, however, EXTREMELY interested in the IS on the Tamron. I've had a great experience with my Tam 17-50, so am definitely considering this 24-70. The bokeh isn't as good - and I shoot shallow a LOT so that is a big deal for me, and I'm not entirely thrilled by the slower AF speed (since that's one of the few things I'm not crazy about on the 17-50), but it really does look like an excellent lens at a MCH more realistic price-point. If I sold the V1, I'd pretty much break even.
What I would love to see is a comparison of the Tam and the Canon 24-70 I, which I think might be interesting.... My guess is the Tamron lives between the VI and VII of the Canon lens, but I'd like to see samples.....................

interesting that they chose the Tamron (for price)
I think the ending was done with substituted lens !
