is it possible to show links on the gallery page and keep original names in links?

I know the links are scrambled but is there any way to avoid this? also, is there a way to have the direct links shown on the gallery so I don't have to do the extra clicking in the share menu to get the links? thanks

    Hey Gale,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "the links are scrambled".

If your galleries are public, you can simply give the nicename url, like this: http://cmac.smugmug.com/SmugMug/Support-Heroes-painted-faces/

If the gallery is unlisted, you need to include the gallery number and key: http://cmac.smugmug.com/SmugMug/Support-Heroes-painted-faces/2504559_TrBCmb

You can always copy and paste the url right out of your address bar, when you want to share. Those will include the gallery and image numbers.

    I hope this helps!

The link doesn't have the name. For example, when I use photobucket the link is something like www.photobucket.com/gale2/nameofmyimage.jpg and when I hotlink that image, the URL is the same. So if I have something like room1, room2, room3, etc I can paste one link and just change the number at the end of it. With smugmug I have to paste every link separately because the link isn't the file name.

As for the linking-I'm not inviting people to my gallery but I'm using one of my albums as a host for blog photos. So I wanted to be able to quickly copy a link so that I can insert an image in a blog post without all the extra clicking. Like I can on photobucket (direct links are shown right on the album page with all of the photo thumbnails). I'm quitting photobucket for other reasons.

    Hi Gale,

I apologize, but the photo links are not customizable, and do not take on the photo title.

    Sorry!

Is there any way that the links can be displayed on the gallery pages so I don't have to click the share tab for every one? Sometimes I will do a blog post with a half dozen pictures and it's so much quicker if I'm not clicking back and forth. Especially with the weird photo links.

    Gale,
Direct photo links from public and not password protected galleries, contain category and gallery nicename along with the photo filename. Going with Lindy's example, I right-clicked on the photo she linked to and copied the image address:
    http://cmac.smugmug.com/SmugMug/Support-Heroes-painted-faces/i-SXCPkNm/5/M/SuperheroGroup-M.jpg

Is that not what you're looking for?

    Gale,

If you had all of the images in order, you can click on the "Get A Link" action, and then use the right and left arrows to scroll the photos, which will display the links without having to go out and then back in.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you. The arrows will help tremendously! I didn't notice them before. Hopefully I won't mess up the order of my gallery somehow. In order for them (my galleries for blog use) not to become too big I'm going to make a new album for each quarter.

the gallery I'm using for blogs is not password protected but the link (when I right click on an image) isn't anything like the ones above. Not sure why.

eta: I just realized something odd. My regular galleries have my username in the front of the url and the album name within the url like the links in the 2nd post, but for some reason, this one does not. It starts with www.smugmug.com/gallery/xxxx (where the x's are numbers).

disregard the above-I had it set to hide the owner name. I fixed that. In the process my links did change and they do have the file name in them now but also have a bunch of other info. But that's fine-I can work around it. Thanks to everyone for all the help!!
