Desert Holly

Desert Holly grows in places where other plants can't.. Here it grows in the hostile volcanic ash fields of Death Valley..

    Striking image. Really nice how the mountain ridge in the background is so clear. Great clouds too. Was this a burn area?

    This is on the outside slope of a volcano crater (Ubehebe Crater).. the black is volcanic ash and lava cinders..

    Here is a photo of the Crater from last year... The Desert Holly is left of frame a couple of hundred yards down the outside slope..

    for scale, the lines you see, lower left, are hiking trails.

    Very nice, Larry and thanks for the info on this very cool little tree. The stormy sky really makes this shot.
