Track and field...example of hand panning
Hi guys,
I have been absent for the past year but will try to get back to being a regular contributor.
This image was shot at the New Balance Grand Prix and features Tirunesh Dibaba both Olympic and World champion. It was cleaned up a little in PP.
Shot this on my back-up Camera (EOS 7D) which has pretty poor performance indoor for conventional shots and I would not recommended once you start pushing the ISO up but it works for panning shots because you can drive the ISO lower due to the slow shutter speed. That said I was caught between settings for this shot, which happens, and the ISO was 2000 but that cleans up well even on the 7D.
While you can shoot a little slower with track and field panning I have found the 1/60th to be the optimum in terms of quality of shot.
Canon EOS 7D with an L series 24mm to 70mm f/2.8 (focal length 40mm.
ISO 2000
f/5.6
1/60th sec
Hope you enjoy.

If I post it, please tell me how to make it better. My fragile ego can take it.
