Tried my hand at some concert photos last night at a small local theater. One of the most impressive concerts I've ever seen. A virtuoso on the ukulele.

Thanks. I almost tossed that one since the side of his face was blown. When I got home and realized the front of his face was well-exposed and saw the framing with those two lights, I knew I had a keeper.

Great set, last one is killer, wish he would open his eyes every now and then.
I've been on both side of the lens when it comes to concert photography so I know how difficult it is to get great ambient shots.

Last one. I'd be interested to see it in B&W.

A different look in B&W. Sometimes the colour distracts the eye from the strength of the composition. I like it in colour as well. That version has a warmth to it that is pleasing too.

I like color version better (it is killer, as everyone else says). If you're allowed to use a flash, a little fill might work to even out some of the overblown areas and perhaps overdone colors (like on his face in #1), while still taking advantage of the great stage lighting.

#4 bowdown.gif followed very closely by #3. I agree that he should open his eyes once in a while.
