Is There A Link Between Search and Visits?

Again, I'm new to the idea of self-promotion and SEO, so there may be a reeeally obvious answer to this question.
Is there any link between where your site appears in search results and number of visits to your site? Meaning: if you consistently fail to have a lot of unique visitors, will your site drop in search results?
I haven't started the next phase of my marketing idea because I'm re-working my site and haven't finished yet. However, Googling "indefinite objects" returns results that have my site on the first page (I tested with various browsers, and had a few friends test as well). If my visits don't increase, will the site drop in the search results...i.e. should I plan on taking a few days off to get my site finished ASAP?

Not really...
It's helpful information, but I wanted to know if there's a correlation between site visits and search result position. More importantly, I wanted to know if my site visits continue to stay low, will that affect my search position in some way.
I'm not ready to start marketing yet because I haven't finished work on my site...the answer to my question will tell me if I need to take a few days off to finish up ASAP or not.

But this much is known, if you have two identical images with identical search engine information such as keywords on two different sites, one with more traffic, that one will come up first.
Case in point is my site. Put in "Huntsville Car' in google.com. You'll find my site at the #1 position. Why? A couple of reasons. One is the domain name has two of the keywords. Second is that my site is constantly updated because of the users on it while the local car dealerships aren't. I've got more traffic than the local dealership sites too. I bet if they had more, they'd get higher placement.
That's why blogs on the same domain as the main domain are important. They can help the main domain's SEO.

http://marketing.grader.com/ - shows you where you're strong and where you're weak, and exactly what to do to fix your weak points!
http://www.freegrader.com - another site grader
http://hubshout.com/?p=webgrader - a site analyzer that can also compare you to other sites
All of these shoudl sometimes be taken with a grain of salt, especially if one says you're completely wrong in one area and the others say you're fine.
