just a wood duck

these are my favorite ducks (we don't have mandarins here), so i always take advantage of any opportunity to get a shot of one... this was shot with a Canon 5D2 and 100-400L lens at 400mm, 1/1250 @ f/7.1....

    Rocky, that is such a beautiful duck! I have tried all season to capture a good shot of any duck, but have only managed to scare several wood ducks into flight! Congratulations, and thanks for posting! Best, Pam

    alas, wood ducks rarelt do dramatic things. occasionally they'll rear up and flap their wings, but that's about it. most of the time, they just swim placidly about, like this little fella... :(

    i can imagine... those colorful feathers probably make for some pretty spectacular fly-tying!
