from Jordan Matter, one of the "names" in headshots.

What I find interesting is how in more than a few of the before/afters aren't necessarily "better/worse" but just different. Not all, but quite a lot of them I think present two good shots, just with differences between them. In some cases, it's an updated look from an older style (eg bw to colour or studio to natural light). In some it's just a different makeup artist's take on thichangeimpact more than the actual shot. In some, it's clearly the photographer's eye for face shape and/or light which has changed it up.

In any case, I thought it was interesting.

Interesting comparison. The thing that stands out to me is the consistency of his style. The "before" shots help show that as they were quite obviously taken by a variety of different photographers.

If I post it, please tell me how to make it better. My fragile ego can take it.

I also thought it very interesting. Also interesting to me is headshot styles around the country. Our Agent here in Texas would not approve (& thus not allow) many of the examples shown. He says the market here is a bit behind accepting what is OK elsewhere. Examples: He doesn't want hands in a headshot, no landscape orientation, & no distracting backgrounds (outside is OK, but I noticed one headshot with red areas in the background--that would be a no-no here). He doesn't take landscape orientation because he has standardized his website to display talent images in portrait. Just different requirements...
