Freestyle Ballerina, art project
I have experimented with several genre's of photography. Weddings, portraits, birds, models, whitewater, dance, motocross, boudoir, landscapes and I hope I have finally settled on a favorite.
For some reason photographing ballerinas in the wild really pushes all my buttons.
So I am embarking on my very first art project I am calling "Freestyle Ballerina". It is along the same subject matter as Ballerina Project out of New York but at the same time quite different. The New York work is all on black and white film until quite recently.
I started shooting dancers 3 years ago and just became aware of the New York work about 6 months ago.
This is my first art project and depending on how it is received hope to do some exciting things with it.
This is a work in progress and I am actively recruiting professional ballerinas and apprentices to participate. As you can imagine Boise is no New York as far as availability of dancers, but I have been having good luck finding participants.
Anyway here is the gallery link to "Freestyle Ballerina" and a few samples:http://alloutdoor.smugmug.com/UrbanBallerinaProject/Freestyle-urban-ballarinas/28490996_L3k6vF#!i=1868944867&k=njbSRSq

I especially like the one in front of the bench (#57). There is something incongruous about it. Have you considered putting the ballerina's in mundane situations - like a ballerina waitress or a ballerina cashier or a ballerina gardener? Just a suggestion - you may not want to go that direction.
