Retrieving GPS EXIF

Why is the GPS info missing from the EXIF method? Is there any way to pull this info from an image using the API?

    G'day Fella,

    GPS info (Latitude, Longitude and Altitude) is available using smugmug.images.getInfo

    Cheers! Bit confusing that it's not with the EXIF method, but at least it's available!
