Neil Leifer was interviewed on the HBO Sports show Real Sports With Bryant Gumbal.

Leifer is probably best known for his shot of the Ali/Liston fight in which Ali
knocked Liston out in the first round.
During his career with Sports Illustrated, he's had something like 200 covers
and covered most major sporting events including the Olympics, boxing and
most team sports.

The interview concentrates on a project to spend a year shooting some of
the sports he's spent a lifetime covering.

There's nothing overly interesting in the interview except to see him work.
One of the last shots he's working on is at Churchill Downs and he's spent
a lot of time getting his shot ready. Including spending the afternoon before
determining where the sun will be when the horses cross the finish line.
Most of the other stuff he was shooting was the same way--working out
how to make every shot count.

Also of note was a question asked by Bryant Gumbal of the interviewer
and that was "Is sports photography relevant?". Now these are TV guys
who have a lot of years covering sports answering. And the answer was,
paraphrasing, yes and no. TV provides instant gratification where a photograph
captures a moment in time that is often memorable.

Oh, and during the interview, he shot both Canon and Nikon :D
