Bird in flight with D90-need help

Hi all, it's been awhile but here it is. i shot this first last week but the background is blown out and I need some help in setting my exposure correctly. Thank you

    Short answer: TO heck with the BG, the shot is good!

    Longer answer: Set your exposure for the BG and the bird will be tons darker, unless you can flash the bird!

    If you could leave the exif data in your image or add it to your post it would help with suggestions.

    I normally shoot in aperture mode and spot meter on the bird, that's where you want the detail, etc, to be....

    As it is, that is a very nice capture that could use a little editing :)
