When I post a link to my blog to Google+, my thumbnail of my image does not show up.
Does anyone else have this issue, and is there a way to fix it?
Hmmmmm, not sure, but I am not surprised. Google+ isn't big on promoting photos from outside sources. They are trying to get you to post photos on their platform. I upload a photo, then link to a blog to get more exposure.

That is what I thought, then I started looking at several people's blog posts, and many with visible thumbnails, do not have there images in Google+/Picasa.
Thus my question to see what others are experiencing.
When I post a link to my blog to Google+, my thumbnail of my image does not show up.
If I share a blog entry on G+ a photo thumb does show on G+ - but I usually upload the photos to G+ rather than share a blog post because I prefer the look of the uploaded photo rather than the thumb next to the text. I also believe that folks prefer to stay on G+ as opposed to clicking on a blog link. If my blog entry has a large amount of writing I will share the blog post on G+, otherwise I'm more likely to repeat the post in G+.
I've included a screen shot of a share of a blogger post.
I always place the photos in my blog by using the embeddable link from Share... Get a link, so my photos are pointing back to my smug site.
I just tried posting a link to a blog entry as opposed to my usual habit of initiating a share from your blog post. The photo from my post showed in that post as well.
I just looked at your G+ entries and I see a broken image for the photo in the blog entry. It's clearly there in your blog, just not in G+. Just curious, how are you placing the photos in your blog? I assume you use the embeddable link, but... Do you see the thumbnail when you do the share but not after you post, or is the thumbnail missing from the beginning?

Dee and Denise,
I fully agree. People don't want to leave Google+, and when I am posting blog entries to the SmugMug Google+, I include the entire text in Google+. If there are multiple photos, I create a new Gallery and upload the photo I want to be the highlighted one first and by itself. This ensures it is the Main photo shown when I share the gallery with text. I then add the rest of the photos and reference which photo # to look at when you get to that part. You can see my style in action here.

Hope this helps!

Not perfect, but I still think it is better than linking to an outside blog (But give them that option right off the bat)
