Overwrite existing files - what data?

I processed a batch of images, uploaded to SM just fine and then realized I forgot my EXIF information and wanted to upload larger images. Ran back over to LR, added/synced the proper metadata and exported to my folder with the larger size overwriting existing files (to keep the same numbering scheme)

I then imported the 'revised' files, selected the overwrite existing option and can't figure out why the EXIF information is not showing as I specified on the export. The size worked just fine, but the metadata didn't seem to move over.

If a file is replaced in SM and the metadata was changed, are the metadata fields excluded from the new import? Or does the new metadata information take some period of time to propagate across your indexes for the images?

Curious....

Replacing a photo in our browser uploaders, doesn't refresh the metadata. If you'd need that, you could only delete and reupload the photos.

Alternatively, you can use the SmugMug Lightroom plugin to do your uploads. If you make changes to your files in Lightroom, republishing them via the SmugMug plugin would also update the metadata on SmugMug.
