Just working with my Nik plugins. Looks like all the ghosts are sleeping during the day.

Looks like an interesting place to explore - any ideas what the 'crucible' in the foreground was used for?

    Cheers, Richard.

It is a great place to visit. I have no idea what the large pot / crucible was used for, but if I had to come up with a story is would be that the owner of the Bodie mine brought it back from Africa after liberating it from a tribe of cannibals. :D

Pouring crucible or bucket? Look at the pivot spindles in the middle where the center of gravity would be. This would have been lifted with a crane or chains for pouring something. There were several mining operations there.

I'll go with the cannibal story - more fun!
Nice shot - it reminds me that I haven't been there in about 30 yrs. - not that it's changed much.
