    Hello Alexandra88,

There are many reasons that Google may or may not index or show your page. Often it is there, just not in the top listings. Please make sure you have the Gallery Setting "Hello World" set to "Yes" so that search engines can see that gallery. Then comes things like, keywords, captions and other content. These all help develop an overall view of the page content so that the search engines can reference it. You can learn more about this here: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1080821

If you are seeing "see photo in original gallery" you are likely looking at a Collect Image, or a virtual copy. This notice will take you back to where the actual image resides on our site.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask us. You can also reach us here: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/emails/new :D

    Thanks -Scott

My problem is that, it does not follow any gallery settings. How can I not have Collect Image pages show up?

I like putting my caption and keywords with each photo, but I don't like this coming up. It's confusing to a new visitor, and does not have any Gallery Description html, and has options I prefer to hide: buy, view cart, slideshow.

That is a SmugMug Keyword Page, which Google does index, in order to improve your SEO.

Can you let me know what your search parameters in Google were, and what ranking this page come up on?

    Thanks!

    Michael

    Google Search Keyword Page
    Me again!!

The second result on this second page screen shot is the link to this page that I am talking about.

Is there a way to get this to not be indexed? While still keeping my keywords found in google?? The reason I don't like this result, is I feel like it is confusing and doesn't represent my overall website/brand when you go to this page.

ALSO: what is that "- # -" stuff?? What can I do to remove it, it is confusing.

    Thank you.

google search: northern VA wedding photographer

They keywords are in my photo keywords/captions ^^ but pages in my sitemap are not coming up....

Keyword pages are a part of your site. If you have keywords on your photos, you will have keyword pages and Google will be indexing them. It's not possible to remove them and still use keywords.

In regards to the # character in your page title, I cannot find any place on your site where that is present. It's possible that at some point you had that for the page the search result is linking (in your navbar > wedding photography services) to and that Google still has an older version. The next time Google updates that page, I'm guessing they would also update the title.

    Sebastian,

I noticed these keyword pages have buy buttons, and social sharing buttons, and the cart button that I generally do not want on galleries. How do I turn that off for keyword pages?

Also I did not use the # and I have had my page crawled many times by google to change it...It's been there for months. Is anyone else having this problem?? It's ugly.

    Thank you!

    Print/Buy Cart Issues
Hopefully some day I will get a little help making sure the Buy, Social, and Cart buttons are not on pages I do not want them. Maybe this will be an update soon in addition to the cool new SM log-in:

I am not an expert in web design or SEO but I have been doing some research

    I found this article http://photographers-seo.com/downloads/SmugMug-SEO-How-to-Guide.pdf

I also have heard that every website needs a site-map to help google understand its design and things like where is the home page ect

I do not however know how to do that or how it works.

My assumption is that you should install the jfriend slide show and put your keywords in naturally written captions in the photos displayed on your homepage slideshow. If you do not want to do that, write captions for every image in your homepage gallery and include some keywords in your bio.

There is no way of knowing how often google will visit your site.

write captions for some photos every day or at least a few times a week so that there is new content for google to look at. Use normal english with good writing skills but include key words in each caption. remember that the captions are read by customers and google.

    Thanks for the guidance, JL

Guess what... NEW SmugMug, and I still have this unfortunate looking page!! I need it to go away... so ugly...

And it DOES NOT help that there are now Case Sensitive urls which lead to a 404 page... which no doubt with make my 404 pages show up in google searches...

If you turn off the shopping cart in the source gallery for the photos does that stop the cart button for that photo on the keyword pages?

Nope, Google notices that pages are 404s when it reindexes them and removes them from their search index.
