Cheap(er) flashes with external power connectors?

I just saw Ziggy posting about the Sigma 610 flash in the main camera forum and at first I thought, SWEET! $225 for a flash that's going to give me the power I need for basketball and other sports. Then I saw there was no external power connector.
So, any other $250 flashes out there that have external power connectors? I want something at least equivalent to an 580EX or SB800 power, but with external power. Don't really care if it has an external PC, while that is a bonus.
