What happened with the mapping / geography?

I have had to manually reset the geography for many of my galleries due to some recent change in Smug Mug. Galleries / images that once appeared on the world map, no longer were appearing. Also, the manual way to assign geographic x/y values has gotten worse. The address lookup is now very awkward, particularly the primitive mapping application that is now being used. It would be great to just use google maps for this.

Thanks bobbyhero. Upon closer examination, I notice that the map service changed from Google, to Mapquest. There used to be a feature to launch the image or gallery in Google Earth. This features is either gone, or requires some new steps to enable. This must be something done to cut costs since when was the last time anyone ever intentionally used Mapquest? 2001?
I don't always have geography embedded in the EXIF data. I often used SmugMug using the older Google-based service by manually assigning the geography. I would type in a location as close as I could get it, and then manually adjust the location based on the satellite imagery or more detailed street address. This different MapQuest based service just doesn't have the mapping background to be useful anymore. I will need to use Google Earth separately to identify an x/y coordinate, and then migrate back to the SmugMug site to enter this information in.
Sorry to be snivelly and nitpicky here, but with all the attention being paid to working with Facebook as a major advancement, it is unfortunate that this has been done at the expense of geography. Up until now, all the changes I have noticed for this site have been for the better, not for the worse. Hopefully SM will reconsider this downgrade.
Thanks for listening and for all you do.

Thanks for the pointer. I see this problem goes way back to last Fall. To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to my site since then anyway so that's why I notice it now.
It stinks that Google is being evil about linking their maps. The replacement is so bad though that I would prefer that SM just removed the feature altogether.

I'm quite sure I've asked this in the past, & probably gotten answers. But too time-constrained at the moment to sift through a bunch of searches. I think I've only been able to download smaller versions of my watermarked images (retaining the watermarks!) But right now I'd like to download full-sized ones. Is this possible? I do have one of those apps, & haven't used it enough to even remember which one.. maybe SmugLoader or something like that. But I'd like to know if it's possible without that, too.

Bulk downloads of display sizes would need to be done with a third party tool. Check out the downloaders section here for possible tools that allow you to do that. If I recall correctly, WinDownload and Star Explorer both have an option to download display sizes.
