Hi Everyone,
I have a question: What do you consider to be the best run rookeries for photographers? I would like to be able to talk to an owner of one, or visit, to get an idea of best practices. Thanks very much, Pam

2 cents... The St Augustine Alligator Farm isn't bad. Small and private and somewhat short lived but filled with opportunities.
    Accidents and Inspiration
One of these days I'll have to figure out what my "style" is..

No idea about rookeries - never been to one.
To get me to return to one that'd just opened up nearby, it'd need

Clean bgs at different times of day
Water level shooting options - including a sunken hide for those who want to do it in style.
Ability /facility to get to subject's eye level if high roosts involved.
A target rich environment'd help, of course ...

For your particular situation :) ... I'd seriously consider setting up a gator proof low-level facility - positioned for both birds and gators.
Such a gig would have me considering a season ticket ... assuming you were about a 5mile bike trip away - assuming done properly / in harmony with surroundings, I suspect you'd be able to charge premium rates because of unique pov.

Especially note the 'theatre' hide, mentioned here

    best of luck
