The Magic Lantern team has done it again. This time, they appear to have cracked the code and allowed continuous, silent, RAW video sequences, potentially for long durations. (Just for the Canon 5D MKIII for now.)

Notice that this is not recording DNG files, but true Canon RAW files. These files have massive amounts of image data. No, it's not ready for even an "alpha" software rating yet, so early testers can count on instability and other surprises, but already you can see the incredible promise this firmware overlay will provide when it's production ready.

Compared to the highly compressed video files that the Canon 5D MKIII is normally capable of, these files will be capable of capturing the same data depths that "still" images enjoy, and the same post-processing opportunities, with greatly expanded video dynamic range and more image detail too.
