NYC, Post Hurricane Sandy
Last year I was sent to assist with the clean up after Sandy. Here's a few of the photos from my time abord the USS Wasp there:
The new World Trade Center is the skyscraper on the left. (Shot with borrowed goverment gear, so it is public domain. Here is a link to the fullsize photo):
And a few photos of the damage:
This is the photo that I feel sums up my trip:

I left Long Island a couple of months before the storm hit, but I still have family and friends there, so thank you for your help with the recovery efforts.

All of the rest were taken with my Nikon D7000 using either a Nikon 15mm F5.6, Nikon 24-50mm, or a Nikon 70-300 VRII lens. A SB-600 and/orSB-800 were used as needed.
For as old as that 15mm is, it's an awesome lens.

Cool stuff.
Thanks! Glad you liked them.
It's crazy to watch it all go down. The best part you can't even get a photo of. When they are done transferring fuel and the two ships make a hard turn away from each other they play a song. The USS Wasp's song was "We Will Rock You" by Queen. So as the ship heels over you hear the CLAP-CLAP-THUMP come over the ship's speakers. It's awesome.
