Speeding up a video

I would like to add video to my smugmug page...I'm new to being a power user..I've converted it to an .mpg file, but now the file is still too big. Does anyone know how I can make the file smaller or what I need to do in order to get it on to my page?

I did use that program in order to convert to mpg, but it didn't speed up my video or make it smaller....any suggestions? If I can use that site to do it, can you tell me how?
