i like the flexibility of this filter, but not sure if it as good as normal ND filters.
Looking to use in bright day light portraits with flash and motion blur in landscapes

On wide-angle and super-wide-angle lenses you may experience more vignetting of the corners, due to the thicker filter.
On wide-angle and super-wide-angle lenses, you may experience an "X" pattern as the filter is darkened.
On all variable ND filters that I have researched there is some color shift as you approach the darkest settings, and with some variable ND filters the color shift can be dramatic. On the better variable ND filters the color shift is fairly well controlled and can be adjusted from a RAW file back to neutral in post-production.
All polarizing filters degrade the image somewhat, reducing fine detail. Two polarizing filters just amplifies the effect. Again, better polarizing filters are less destructive than the cheapest polarizing filters, but high cost does not guarantee quality either.
I highly recommend doing your own research to see if any particular variable ND filter meets your individual needs and quality requirements:
