Okay, let me first say thank you to everyone who entered. I had no idea there would be so many! But please don't think I'm complaining, it has been an enjoyable privilege to look over so many great images. I am grateful for the opportunity.
There were a couple of images that did not quite fit within the parameters of Textures, Patterns, and Abstracts (a bit subjective I know), but they were certainly good enough to win in another contest where they would fit the category.
It has been tough deciding on an overall winner especially. The top 3 or so were so good that I've been struggling all day today with my final decision. That said, here we go!
First, a few honorable mentions:
This is a terrific abstract by Linda (richtersl)
Here's another good one by DonRicklin
Really loved this pattern by Barbara (bfluegie)
A very nice abstract by grandmaR
A nice pattern by kentwaller
This is a nice pattern/abstract by rainbow
Another great texture by jwear
And now for the final four! (Yes, I know I'm corny)
The third runner up is by AlansGrin
The second runner up is by Eric (earache)
The first runner up is by Linda (richtersl) This terrific image was my number one or number two all the way through the contest. It's very atmospheric!
And now for the overall winner. This amazing composition by Bill Banning (billseye) simply captures everything this contest was about. It is a texture, it is a pattern, and it is an abstract. All three of those elements in one image were not necessary to win, but Bill's image is a worthy piece of art in it's own right. I would hang this image on my wall! The color, the cropping, the lighting - breathtaking! Excellent work Bill, and congratulations!
Once again I would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter. I believe we have all benefited from our participation. It has been a joy!

Thank you for the HM for the abstract. This was the original photo of a bench in Cheesecake in Paradise

Thanks for A great challenge and for the honorable mention. There were so many excellent entries I was surprised but very happy to be included.
Bill, Congrats on a great image and a well deserved win.
I'll put the MC thinking cap on and get a theme up in the next 24 hours.
By the way - thanks for the full shot of the bench, grandmaR! Very cool.
