Saving Photo to the Folder of My Choosing

I'm wondering how to get the "Owner Save" (or Save Photo) function to once again allow me to choose where the download goes. I used to always choose a "Save" option that would cause a box to pop up, where I could find the computer folder (the last folder I downloaded to would appear first, but I could change it). And I could re-name the file if I wanted as well. Now I no longer have that option. I inadvertently ticked the wrong box one time, and now all I get is the "Save File" option (or I can "Open" w/ PS, etc.). That option doesn't allow me to choose the folder the download goes to. In fact, I sometimes can't even locate where my download went. How can I get the option back? This seems so silly, but I just haven't been able to solve it.

I know I can select where it's downloaded to, because like I said, I always used to do that. I've always used FF. And I know this same thing also happened before-- where I had the capability to choose my folder, but then lost the option for awhile on SmugMug because I goofed once & mistakenly ticked the box that says "Always choose this option..." or whatever. Then I got the capability back somehow, and there must be some way on SmugMug to do that, but I just can't figure out how I got it back.

If you refer to whether to the dialog on whether you want to open or save a file, that's a file extension specific option in the Firefox options > applications tab. There you can adjust your settings for the different file types. If you want your Firefox to ask you what to do with, for example JPG files, you'd look for the JPG option in the list of "content types" and change the action to "always ask".
