I wasnt sure if this was the right forum for this but this one looked more appropriate, if not then please move it.

I just purchased a Virizon Wireless air card for faster internet , Im currently on AOL Dialup (SLOWslow) and will cancel it soon, So I'm looking for a free e-mail that I can use Mozzila's "Thunderbird" (Prefered) or MS Outlook (Not prefered) is there a service out there that I should look into?

Thanks

I have nothing against gmail, personally, but I just love controversy, so I'll interject a note from my very paranoid friend:

Gmail! I wouldn't use that if it were the last email service on earth! Do you know what Google wants to do? They want to find out everything about everybody and then sell it! It's worse than the NSA which just wants to find out everything about everyone, but has no intention of selling it. OK OK, if you don't care about your privacy, then use gmail....

It goes on like that. Personally, I don't care about my privacy, at least not on this level. But if you do, well then you would no more use gmail than you would use dgrin PMs to send military secrects or privileged insider information about the company of which you are CEO.
    If not now, when?

    No Kidding!

I use gmail for a second spam account. Not for real email.

I used to work for VZW supporting that air card service - YOU WILL LOVE IT! hehehehehe

Go with Gmail - you can use it with outlook, outlook express, mozilla, entourage, thunderbird, ect ect. And you get I think it is like 2 gigs of email

Just got back in from Wifes Work Christmas party.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I just activated a G-mail account , Mike you say I can configure Thunderbird to recieve my g-mail? I havent looked very carefully at Gmail yet but how would I set this up? Also I will need the e-mail as my "MAIN" e-mail since Verizon doesnt support/offer e-mail accounts, Is that a good idea to do? I could use Yahoo, hotmail ect but I would rather use a client like Thunderbird, Im a big fan of Mozilla! BTW I need 4 more G-mail accounts, for my personal account, wife and 2 daughters, Can I have basicly unlimited g-mail accounts?

    Thanks again

Log into your gmail account and click on settings in the top right. You'll see a menu pop up. Click on "Forwarding and POP". To get your mail into thunderbird, you'll need to enable the POP (short for post office protocol). There are links right there that tell you all about it and how to configure your thunderbird to download it.

I'm not sure about the unlimited gmail accounts thing. Obviously your wife and your daughters can sign up for their own accounts so that shouldn't be an issue really. But I'm not sure if you can have two accounts or not ne_nau.gif I'm sure the program policies will tell you.

Update for those who may have been following this thread and a big thanks for everyones help/tips and offers for gmail. Only way to get gmail now is by cell phone with text messaging activated so they can send the activation code. We now have 5 gmail accounts, apparently you can have more than one per person, how many more I dont know, my guess is as many as you need. I also was able to configure Mozilla's Thunderbird to recieve all our e-mails. Again gmail will be our main/only e-mail address's, so if anyone knows of a better solution for free/permant e-mail or security issues we may want to know about gmail please post it here for me and everyone else. So far so good but its only been one day.
