One Of My First Digital Attempts

Back in 2010 I decided to start exploring what digital had to offer. I bought a used Nikon D-100. Believe it or not, I still use this camera for some things today.

Anyway, being the old, obstinate codger that I am, I was dragged kicking and screaming to this new fangled digital world. When I first started using it, (as in the image below) I used it in conjunction with a Mamiya 645-D film camera to explore the possibilities yet be safe with the images and my comfort level with film.

I'd like to think I was a pretty good film photographer. (most likely because I partnered with a REALLY good lab) but without the D Grin community and what I've learned here, I would have probably went back to film. This forum was a godsend in helping me make the switch to digital and be able to offer the professional level digital images I was getting with film.

The image below was taken completely with natural light and a reflector. I had to do it around eight in the morning to get the look I wanted. but boy were there a bunch of tossers in the digital bunch.

Now, after much learning from really good people in this community, having my ego bruised on more than one occasion and "putting myself out there" for the world to see. I am perfectly capable of getting this look and light any time of the day with off camera strobes. I can still get it with natural light, I just don't have to force people to get up so early! :D

There is NOTHING wrong with natural light photography! I love it. It's just nice to not be a slave to the sun.

Thanks PEOPLE and YOU know who you are!

I posted this in another thread, but I'll join in here with you Bryce:

look here and here and here.

Seriously. If it weren't for this place I would never have progressed BEYOND that. I credit any skill I may now have to the kind folks here and stupid amounts of practice (along with stupid numbers of REALLY BAD SHOTS. C'mon, you just HAVE to know that none of us -no matter what level - share the garbage, right??!?!?! rolleyes1.gif)
