In May, I went over to Scotland for two weeks. The first was spent with a photo tour by Lightstalkers. Our guide Glen Campbell was awesome and I highly recommend him. The second week I spent roving around by myself in he highlands. It is an incredibly dynamic, beautiful place to photograph. Here are a few of the shots...

1. Tarbet Ness Lighthouse

2. Castle Stalker

3. Smoo Cave

4. Fishing Boats

5. Ardvreck Castle

Many more can be found in my Scotland Gallery . Excellent all around experience!

I love Scotland and this is a nice sampling of images. Excellent lighting in all of them.

Thank you. Honestly Scotland almost makes it too easy. The light there is beautiful and the changing conditions means that you can shoot all day long and still have good light. I could have spent months there shooting!

Good stuff. Kept getting better. Some of those look like long exposure due to cloud movement. #3 is best. #5 and #6 are gorgeous! For #6, did you have to find a spot or were you on side of the road? Nice that no one was there all the way to the lake! Thanks for posting!

Thanks. #6 caught me by surprise. I was driving back after shooting Ardveck Castle and when I rounded a mountain, the sun nearly blinded me. I went into a panic looking for a place to pull off the road before it disappeared. Luckily I found a small intersection where there was a cattle gate to stop. I had just enough time to setup and shoot a couple of shots before it was gone...it was like 5-minutes or so. Being lucky is far better than being good! :-)

Thanks, the watermark is the standard for my smugmug site. Usually I use a smaller one centered at the top for posting.

I do too Kevin! Then again, I probably take for granted the beauty we have here in the states. The trip did energize me to out and shoot more locally as well as in get back into camping.

Always good to get energized! We do have a lot here in the states to shoot also and you're right I think we take it for granted sometimes.

I am excited to be traveling to Scotland in September. I'll definitely try and see a few of these locations if time permits.
Amazing shots by the way! The long exposures and color contrast are exceptional.

Thanks Qarik and Jaden. Jaden - you will love it over there. The only downside is that there is enough time to take it all in.
