Los Angeles city at 30 minutes past sunset. Risking life and limb to take this photo. I drove around LA for 3 hours looking for a spot to shoot a pano.
I found a 12 story building after driving through multiple gang infested streets. I asked the guard in the front of the building if I could shoot some pictures from the roof. He scoffed at me. I told him I would make it worth his while and handed him some cash.
He told me I would have to use the fire escape because the elevator was shut down. I climbed up a 12 story unstable fire escape with a 40lb backpack containing a 400-2.8 and 1ds2 among other things. I also had a heavy tripod and wimberly head strapped over my shoulder.
I arrive at the roof only to find a stiff wind. I set up and meter the shot. 2.5 seconds at f8 (reduces vingetting for pano) iso 500. Not good for a sharp set of photos through a 400-2.8. Oh well Im in for the final now.
I tip the lens/camera into portrait and fire off 14 pics at 2 rows of 7. Shot from aprox. 2.5 miles away.
Well here it is........
