Hmmm, not a bad shot... seems like highlights are blown a bit (on my monitor at least). Not sure what software you're using, but if you can try to decrease the highlights, maybe add a bit of contrast. I am thinking that you used too long an exposure for this shot. I myself enjoy long exposure water and waterfalls, but I have learned that at times, it doesn't work. I am not sure it works here. I would venture to guess (and guess is the key word here) that if you went back (hopefully it's not a long trip for you) and you took the same shot with a slightly shorter shutter speed, you could still get some silky water just a tad more defined and not clip the highlights. I have shot a similar style fall here in Oregon and the flow is strong enough that even during the first hour of sunlight I expose it for about 1/5s, making all the other parameters for correctly exposing the scene.

How deep is that water.... is it wadeable? If you can get more to the left and shoot along the wall a more straight on approach could be a cool look with the wall leading the eye to the fall giving it more depth(?) Safety first though. This would be a fun fall to shoot, too bad I live too far away.

    Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, Bob. Terrific location. I like the comp, but I'm sure you can find other good comps there too along the lines of Lees suggestions above. Exposure is good, maybe just a tad hot on the top of the second falls tiers, but not objectionable. Well done I'd say. thumb.gif

Thanks Lee I use CS5. I will try highlights and add a wee bit of contrast. I did find when I was using the contrast it gives the water a brownish shade. I will certainly bear this in mind when I next return. They say October is a good time to visit. The water is really deep and rocky so there is no chance of an old guy like me
making it to the other side.
    Thanks
