Dear All.
thank you for this forum and I hope I will find my answer here.
I have a new D5100 and I am a new photographer (but enthusiastic).
After studying all the catalog, following many recommendations on youtube, I started practicing.
Everything was almost fine until I started shooting indoor people with low light, mainly my son who moves quickly... I realised after that my 18-300mm lens is not suitable for such places.
I kindly ask you to recommend me an indoor fast lens for low light and slow/fast moving objects.
thank you in advance.
Regards, YF

You will also want to get an external electronic flash with an AF Assist light. The AF Assist light helps the AF section of the camera to find focus more quickly. A flash allows lower ISOs and, with an appropriate flash modifier, very good light.
For starters, and assuming that your needs are similar to typical needs, I can recommend the Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX as an excellent standard zoom with a constant aperture of f2.8 and very quick AF. Yes, it's expensive.
At very minimum, a Tamron SP 17-50mm, f2.8 XR Di-II LD SP Aspherical (IF) Zoom Lens with Built In Motor for Nikon. Possibly also consider the Tamron 17-50mm, f2.8 SP XR Di II VC (Vibration Compensation) Zoom Lens for Nikon. Neither is the quality of the Nikkor above, but both are very capable and can do professional quality work.
For the flash, in Nikon I suggest the SB-700 Speedlight. At very least, I suggest a Sigma EF-610 DG SUPER flash for Nikon cameras.
Then add a flash modifier.
You can create your own light modifiers (DIY). A couple that I can recommend are:

Joe Demb also makes an interesting device for sale (reasonable):

I own a FlipIt product and it works well and is very well made.
The following images all used a DIY scoop type of modifier, very similar to the one at the fototime link above.

I completely agree. The results are usually wonderful, and the cost is more than fair.

For a lens, get the 35 1.8 DX which will have autofocus or the 50 1.8 that has afs since your D5100 doesn't have a focus
