Dusty lens?

I might have found myself an 85mm, but the seller says there is "some dust in the front element." I know in all the B/S posts on FM, everyone proudly proclaims "NO DUST!!!!" etc, but does dust really make a big difference? Am I going to put this on my camera, take a picture, and go "STUPID DUST!"? Or, in reality, is it the same as "minor scratches" on the front element -- really makes no difference at all?

what lens is it?-i have been looking at an old pentax smc takumar 85/1.9 for portraits and lowlight theatre and music.
it depends on how much dust is in there-if its near the front element it probably won't be visible, however depending on how much it cost you,it could be worth having it disassembled and cleaned by a good technician with acccess to a disassembly/service manual for the lens.
