I thought this was pretty cool. It's a fairly noisy photo 'cuz it was taken at ISO 1600 and then brightened in post. It's just a photo of me quickly lifting my finger out of a bowl of water; I thought the "ring" was pretty neat looking.

(1/4000sec, f6.3, 200mm, iso 1600)
Nikon D50
Tamron AF18-200mm F3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD
Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical
Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor
Nikon SB-800 Speedlight

neat- almost looks like you dragged a plug of water out with your finger.

Wow, that is an intriguing shot. Any fluid mechanics people out there who can give some explanation for the ring?

You kind of made like a whirl pool with your finger ....... very clever.
Makes that circle of water look more like an object than part of water itself doesn't it..........almost like you could lift it off the surface.

    Great experiment......... Skippy (Australia)
