Links will not open in new tab

Windows 8, IE10. See atch pdf file for settings screenshot.

I have added various links in my captions on some of my images. This way the viewer can click on the link and be taken to a website that has addl detailed info on something significant in the photo. Problem is, when I click on the link it uses the same tab- it replaces the smugmug page with the link page. They should be opening in a new tab so folks can still continue on my smugmug page viewing my images.
Sure, you could right-click on the link and choose Open in New Tab but that is more effort and most folks won't do that or even know they can do it.
So, is there some setting, code, etc. in smugmug that will make all links contained in Captions to open in a new tab?

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You can modify your link just a bit so that it will open in a new tab, please see here:

    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp

The example on that page is this,

    <a href="http://www.w3schools.com&quot; target="_blank">Visit W3Schools</a>

If you pasted this into a caption, the link would say "Visit W3Schools" and the link would open in a new tab. :)

If you need anything else, please let us know.

Thanks for quick response! Using this method I have to add addl typing for the plain text name. Would have to go back and change all I have and adjust for new ones, etc. Was hoping there would be something global in Smug that would force all links contained in Captions to open in a New Tab.

I'm not aware of any way to force the links in captions to open in a new tab.

Are you aware that you can edit all captions for photos in a given gallery on one page? That will probably be faster than selecting a photo, editing the caption, selecting the next photo... When you are in the gallery, Tools... Multiple Photos... Caption / keyword.

I can't see your site so I don't know what types of links you want to open in a new browser tab. But I do know that when a site starts to open new tabs that I didn't request I usually close the site. Make sure you know your viewer's behavior before you start to propagate new browser windows or tabs.

    Thanks for your help.

(Links wouldn't open automatically- viewer would have to click on it.)

That's what I was referring to - clicking on a link and having it take me to a new tab.
