This is a crop from the full frame below.
More to follow, I just got home! Excited. At Magnolia Gardens, way out in the marsh on the edge of the Ashley River.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Yes, there I was, no reflections, no birds (a few ducks), boy did I wish I had picked somewhere else to spend Sunday afternoon.

So, I am sitting there looking out at the empty marsh............

A raptor. Now how many turkey vultures have I seen?

But I raised my camera and looked thru the 400 mm lens.

I KNEW, I knew it had to be..........It Was! My first eagle.

    Flying towards me.

I think, know, he has something in his feet, but I have no idea what it is.

He went to a perch, I shot and shot and shot. Changed settings and shot some more, etc. I did not catch him flying off, but got one shot of him going into a bunch of bare branches. He was never close, not like Harry's birds. SC birds are not close, but he is a wild, free and wintering Eagle.

Surprisingly, considering how far away he was, many of the photos turned out and I will work them up.............last night I was too tired. Went to sleep early. I am going to be busy today, but I will get this bird worked up.

Can you imagine, no birds, a place I go all the time, not where I was expecting eagles, was hoping for a heron or a reflection.

Thanks for stopping and commenting all of you,

ginger (still w/o the coveted reflection, buy hey, an eagle!):D

    Way to go!
I love the position he is in. To me it looks like he's got a snake in his grasp.

    Congrats!
