Galapagos Frigate Birds

I recently returned from a Muench Workshops trip to the Galapagos Islands. I'm way behind in picture processing, but may start to dribble a few pics in from time to time.

Here's a pair of Frigate birds. The one with the red under his chin is a male.



That red area under is chin is a sac he can inflate which evidently serves no other purpose than for attracting a mate.

Here's one with his sac inflated. I'm sure we've all seen shots of this before, but it was pretty amazing to see in person.

Thanks, Pam! The Galapagos was great. You should go! We did the southern Galapagos Islands. Next year they're doing the northern islands and I really wanna go.
