Hi to all,
I am not a professional photographer. I am a location scout in cinema, and obviously, internet photo galleries are a very important tool for me.
I switched to SmugMug a season ago. It was an OK experience. I am now getting set for the new season of our TV show, and I begin to wonder if I will switch back to flickr. Why would I do that? Three reasons:
- well, the new design of the photo galleries in flickr is much more pleasing than the one in SmugMug. You see, I am "selling" locations to our different directors, and they tend to be pleased (or not) very quickly. One glance at the screen, and half the sale is done (or lost). SmugMug is obviously trailing behind the new flickr and picasa in this field.
- i cannot "expire" share links in smugmug. Now this is something that is really killing me. I show private houses in smugmug and i have to share these pictures with many people involved in every project. The idea that some smart guy may keep these links for future "references" (other projects, or worst, use your imagination) is really something that upset me.
- the iphone galleries are so slow nobody wants to use them.
I would really prefer to use a smaller operation like SmugMug instead of Yahoo or Google. But I am afraid that I won't have the choice to swith. But maybe all my worries will be solved with what you are developing right now. So I just wanted to let you know where I stand, as a customer.

-You can change and customize your gallery styles if you wish. You can see a pretty cool example here: http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=235991
-You can correct, there is not a way to expire a link. You can however, change the password on a gallery after a certain period of time to restrict access.
-Do you have your site set to mobile site = yes? Or are your guest viewing on an iPhone in the full site mode? This may affect load times.
I hope this will help you along. If you have more questions, feel free to shoot the help desk an email or stop into Live Chat.
Thanks -Scott
But it's okay as I almost switched a few years ago!
