while walking
I was talking my usual sunrise stroll when I caught this shot. D100, 80-400 f4.5-5.6D VR lens, ISO 400, 750 sec f/8.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I've seen this somewhere before.
This is a littl bit different from the one on STF as I've cloned out the branch that was behind the beak.

Hi, I'm ginger. I stumble outside, see a 4X4 backyard, while begging the dogs to hurry and think business.
However, I do have an egret somewhere, not as nice as yours though.

Since I moved to Florida last month I got more room to stumble around in.
I've had some good luck these last few mornings with wildlife and some exquisite lighting. What a change from NYC. Its a lot easier shooting now that I don't have to drag Andy around with me any more.

I do miss the photo ops provided by NYC, especially the candids of folks. I loved shooting in the subways, of course that may be illegal now anyhow.

That is a great shot of Andy, a little too good looking, wonder if he likes that image. Great sharpening, bothers me a bit. All in all, I love seeing it, thank you.
Where are you in Florida. My sister is in Miami. My son in law's family is scattered across the mid to Orlando area, both sides, I think, of Florida.
I assume you didn't run into any hurricanes while walking.
Did you retire? Or can you just work from anywhere?
Don't worry about the law while shooting, that is my working theory.
Course, you might not get access anymore. Homeland security.
Or you can be deaf like me, they tell me I can't shoot somewhere, I can't hear them. My husband tries to sweet talk them, if he is along. Often works, but not those homeland people. I don't run into them here.

Mess your hair up a bit, would you, please. Harry, look what you have done to his image. Ken, that is it, Ken......... Andy, gotta have a flaw somewhere.

I'm living in Viera which is in Brevard County just a tad south of Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic side. I moved here in July after 57 years in NYC. I'm retired and loving it.
I haven't been bothered by the security paranoia since getting down here but it was getting out of hand in NYC. Once Andy and I were pulled off the subway by the police and questioned while the train waited for us.

Or it is all the clothes.
I brought a dog home, a puppy, from DC to Charleston last October, expected the airport to drive me nuts, it did. But a friend came with me, since I am hard of hearing, she really smoothed my way. They let her through to interpret for me til I boarded, but she was searched every which way. Now the dog, she could have smuggled just about anything in. Maybe I shouldn't give people, or dogs, ideas.
Also went to the tree lighting in DC, the one after 9/11. They searched everything, and since they elevated that security, I see it is still going on. Can't park, I understand it was bad before, but........ I don't think we have the money here to get fully involved. A bunch of retired men go out in their own boats and look for suspicious activity, since our port is vulnerable, and we do still have military things.
So, we are protected by men in their sixties, in small boats, floating around looking for suspicious "things". That has to be oral, don't know how to get a photo of the irony there. Suggestion? I am sure they are not wearing sweatshirts announcing their purpose. Just drift the waters, a beer or two, imagine the scene.
ginger (I don't sweat it, worry a lot about flying: mechanical and pilot error. Same old stuff, just one more thing to "worry" about, I do that well, but my list is long, has been long, some things I might never get to on a full worry.)
i'm lookin good there, eh?

I'll bet the security paranoia in NYC is out of control. Hard to believe you were hauled off a train because of a camera. It's a different world, alright.

ginger, I ought to get a job with that homeland security outfit.:D
I was surprised that I had some posts before your first one.
I also noticed that you didn't move many posts back then...saw several landscapes.
You forgot that when I started here this was the Landscapes/Wildlife Forum and I didn't get suckered into moding until March, 2005.
I got a kick out of this reply of mine.
